Scottie Marlow here, and welcome to my blog.As a marketing professional, I will attempt to use my blog as a portal to all things APP. In this blog I will cover as well as share my ideas and projects on different types of web and smart phone Apps.

Mashups-
A mashup is a website or an application that is used to combine multiple sources of data into one easy to use site. For this site I will provide the links to whats trending in new apps as well as in the world of internet gaming and app gaming.

Internet gaming- Everquest

EverQuest, originally launched in 1999, was one of the first MMORPGs to achieve great success and notoriety in the genre. Sony Online Entertainment's game has spawned a large number of successful expansion packs, continually adding to the world of Norrath and its history, races and classes, making EQ one of the most robust games available.

Omega App Project

Omega Apps Project

OmegaApp- Mod Squad

OmegaApp is the completely fictional company that I have created to use this term or for at least this project. OmegaApp is trying to make a name for its apps in a growing market of apps for devices from the Kindle Fire to the new Iphones. The apps at OmegaApp are created to enhance the user experience by adding simple but fun app elements that can be useful to a wide range of users. The fictional app that my team will be marketing for OmegaApp is PieAttack, which is an app that allows the user of any smart phone or smart device with a touch screen to throw a pie at a friend. Once the user sends/throws the pie at a friend their screen becomes completely covered and they have to use their finger on the touch screen to wipe it off as if it was really dirty.

In order to take full advantage of the market and get as much coverage as possible for my clients, OmegaApp, I will use the following marketing plan to set up and publish the PieAttack app to the widest audience possible. First off I will need to define my audience; the customer will be the most important part of this process and will ultimately make or break the success of the overall project.

The next step is for me to list some ads and get some advertisement out for this new app. I will make an effort across several sites and venues commonly frequented by my target audience to take advantage of the most effective marketing campaign. When I can get the app advertisement seen in several places the visibility and retained message will be much stronger. Complementary sites that I can help cross-promote to visitors, who will then see the PieAttack there too, will provide excellent reinforcement of the message.

While this is my first step, realistically I could better create the budget for marketing if I knew the total costs involved in the project. As the project manager I should already at least have an idea at this time what the price range will be and probably already have a figure in mind of how much I should spend. After creating the advertisements I will use and then getting the advertisements up and running in the market I can then start to track and document the success or failure of the results of the projects first run of advertisements.

Hopefully, the results of the marketing will come out as successful and the project will be deemed a total success. In the next section I will layout and discuss the needs analysis for this project. The needs analysis for this project will discuss four different points to meet the requirements listed in rubric.

Needs Analysis

The problems to be solved in this needs analysis is how to accomplish the development and marketing the new app PieAttack for the fictional company OmegaApp-ModSquad.

As project manager my team and I will be marketing this new app with the goal of making OmegaApp and the new app successful. I will be introducing this app to wide market with my main target group being teenage boys around age twelve to young men around eighteen to twenty five.

I can agree that networking can and will be a big part in this project as well as any other project like it. Networking has become a major element in most things involving information technology these days and it will only continue to grow in the future. As for the reading for this unit I have hit a roadblock because when I downloaded the e-book from doc sharing it only has lessons up to lesson eight and I was unable to find lesson ten and with work and everything else I have run out of time but I really feel that I was still able to produce a strong project anyway.

Marketing in the Clouds

Marketing in the Clouds

Just Cloud

Just Cloud is a solution for storing files that can easily be accessed from any of device. Other cloud storage services offer one or two nice features, but Just Cloud really has the whole package. Just Cloud has every feature this cloud storage company has unlimited storage and lets the user access it from any device. While I have not used this service myself I can say that an obvious disadvantage to the service is that it has a monthly fee. At the same time this service only costs like four dollars a month so that can also be an advantage.

Steam Cloud

Steam is a cloud service that I actually use myself. Although, my son does use it every day I have also had a bit of time on the steam cloud playing games. This service is free but the user has to buy the games from the Steam store which keeps up to date with the latest games at good prices. My only complaint on the steam cloud is that when the internet is out the game can be inaccessible. Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute games and related media online, from small independent developers to larger software houses. Steam also has community features, automated game updates, in-game voice and chat functionality. The software provides a freely-available application programming interface, Steamworks that developers can take advantage of to integrate many of Steam's functions within their software products.

Steam cloud provisioning has expanded from 1 MB per user to 100 MB per user, per game. The Steam Cloud API allows your game to write and retrieve files for each user. Use it for personalized settings like keyboard, mouse, and gamepad configurations, multiplayer sprays, or even saved games. Steam Cloud is a natural extension of the portability that Steam affords gamers. Shipped first with Left 4 Dead, Steam Cloud is now a proven resource and is becoming an integral part of the Steam experience.

Carbonite

Carbonite is an online backup service, available to Windows and Mac users, that backs up documents, e-mails, music, photos, and settings. It is named after carbonite, the fictional substance used to freeze Han Solo in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The generic purple color used on the company's website is also reminiscent of the color of carbon paper. It was the first such service to offer unlimited backup space for a fixed price. Again with Carbonite I have never used the service but it has a monthly fee which is a big disadvantage to me. The advantage of Carbonite is that the service can save the user a lot of problems by keeping their files safe and ready for if ever they may need them.

Conclusion:

This is my unit 3 project covering the three different cloud services as required by the rubric. I have concluded that in my opinion while cloud computing may be very convenient and even more cost efficient in many cases, it is just not for me. I do not trust the security of cloud computing and I have already had a few bad experiences with the little cloud computing I have done. With using Steam, I have had one occurrence where I bought a game on the steam network and then had an internet outage that caused me to lose access to the game that I had just paid nearly fifty dollars for.

Internet Marketing

The Marlow Inc. Project
Introduction

I am an internet marketing consultant who has recently been hired by Marlow Inc, to move the small business into the future of marketing with the introduction of video marketing. Video marketing can be as simple as a thirty second advertisement or as complicated as giving virtual tours. With the use of websites like Youtube a small company like Marlow Inc. can get their product out to a wide audience while keeping marketing costs modest.

Overview of the problem

The main problem is that Marlow Inc is a small business that has built a local reputation in their community and is now ready to bring their product or products to a much wider audience. Being a small company and only having experience with the local community Marlow Inc. needed a consultant such as me to step in and bring their marketing into the video age.

Description of implementing tool to solve problem

The solution I have for Marlow Inc is to start off with video advertising with a simple service called Animoto. “Animoto’s Cinematic AI employs the same sophisticated post-production skills used in television and film to put professional video at your fingertips. If you have images you’re minutes away from having a stunning video to showcase your products, service, company or event”.

Summary

With the help of Animoto and advertising on web sites Marlow Inc will be able to reach a wider audience and have the potential of growth like never before. By implementing video advertising across the web we can save money and get noticed as we grow and become more profitable.

Conclusion:

This is my unit 6 project discussing one tool we have discussed so far in the class and presenting my findings to a fictional corporation. Marlow Inc. has asked me to introduce the new company to the world of video marketing so that they can reach a wider audience of potential customers.

SketchFlow

What is SketchFlow?

SketchFlow prototypes are designed by drawing out flow diagrams, composition, screens and states of an application UI.
You can use drawing tools, sticky notes, WPF or Silverlight controls and components, as well as imported images to iterate on and visualize your ideas quickly. SketchFlow even comes with a set of sketch styles for the standard platform controls, helping you present your work with a consistent “prototype” look to keep focus on the concepts presented. Using animation, you can illustrate design intent for dynamic interactions and application transitions easily.
